Medical Assistant (12 months)
Working in doctor’s offices, hospitals, medical clinics, nursing homes, and other healthcare settings, medical assistants work directly with both patients and other healthcare workers. In the United States, employment for medical assistants is very strong, growing at an incredible rate of 19% from 2019-2029, much faster than average. There were 725,200 medical assistants employed in the U.S. in 2019; and an additional 139,200 jobs are projected to be added over this decade (BLS 2021). At IntelliTec, the Medical Assistant program teaches students how to measure a patients’ vital signs, prepare patients for procedures, administer medications and injections, and use the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. IntelliTec’s Medical Assistant program can be completed in 12 months, and graduates receive a Medical Assistant Certificate and are prepared to sit for the AMT Registered Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist examinations for certification.
Dental Assistant (10.5 months)
Most often working in dental practices, dental assistants support and work closely with dentists. Across the country, the demand for quality dental care is strong. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, there were 354,600 dental assistants employed nationwide in 2019, and the field is projected to continue to grow at a rate of 7%, adding 23,400 more dental assisting jobs nationwide by 2029 (BLS 2021). At IntelliTec, the Dental Assistant program teaches students to perform administrative and clinical tasks, assist the dentist or hygienist during exams and treatments, deliver X-rays, take dental impressions, and fabricate molds or crowns. IntelliTec’s Dental Assistant program can be completed in 10.5 months, and graduates receive a Dental Assistant Certificate and are prepared to sit for the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) exam.
Medical Billing and Coding Specialist (12 months)
There is a growing demand for Medical Records and Health Information Specialists, including medical billing and coding specialists. According to the U.S. BLS, there were over 340,000 medical billing and coding jobs nationwide in 2019, and the field will grow at a rate of 8% annually from 2019-2029, adding approximately 29,000 more positions (BLS 2021). At IntelliTec, the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program teaches students comprehensive medical coding and billing procedures, medical terminology, and medical billing software. The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program can be completed in 12 months, and graduates receive a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Certificate, and are prepared to sit for professional certifications including the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA), the Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS), and the Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS) from the National Healthcareer Association, and the CPC-A Certified Professional Coder and the CPB-Certified Professional Biller from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
Nursing Assistant (4 weeks)
Nursing assistants are also in high demand across the country. According to the U.S. BLS, there were over 1.5 million nursing assistants in 2019, and the field is projected to grow by 8% (much faster than average) over the 2019-2029 decade, adding 119,500 more jobs nationwide (BLS 2021). At IntelliTec, the Nursing Assistant program can prepare you to enter this career in just 1 month! IntelliTec’s program teaches basic nursing skills, including measuring vital signs, intake & output measurement, and proper hand washing, as well as how to interact with clients in a way that ensures emotional, social, and mental healthcare needs are met, and how to assist clients in attaining and maintaining independence. The Nursing Assistant program can be completed in 4 weeks, and graduates receive a Nursing Assistant Certificate, and are prepared to apply for the State Board Exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.
