Albuquerque Campus Adds Three New Programs Over the Last Year
At IntelliTec College, our goal is to provide the training programs our students need for the careers they want. Our mission is to prepare students for careers that are in high demand in their own communities, so they can find employment where they want to live. In order to fulfill that mission, IntelliTec added three new programs to the Albuquerque campus over the last year, in order to better serve our students and our community there. IntelliTec is excited to announce the many changes that have occurred recently at the Albuquerque campus, and we welcome you to learn more about the new programs we are proud to offer you!
Over the last year, the Albuquerque campus has launched a new Medical Billing and Coding program, a new Medical Assisting program, and a new Massage Therapy program, each designed to quickly prepare students for immediate entry-level positions in these in-demand fields. Here is an in-depth look at each of IntelliTec Albuquerque’s new programs:
Medical Billing and Coding:
Beginning August 24, 2020, IntelliTec expanded the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program to the Albuquerque campus. IntelliTec created the Medical Billing and Coding program to help meet the need for administrative medical professionals in today’s healthcare world. Medical Billing and Coding specialists are essential healthcare workers who have a direct influence on the quality and delivery of vital healthcare services. At IntelliTec, students learn comprehensive medical coding and billing procedures, current medical software and trends in the insurance industry. Students learn medical terminology, medical billing software, how to prepare and file insurance claims, how to analyze benefits, how to use Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, and how to adhere to HIPAA laws.
The Medical Billing and Coding program at IntelliTec is designed to be achievable in as few as 12 months. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to sit for professional certifications including the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA), the Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS), and the Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS) from the National Healthcareer Association, and the CPC-A Certified Professional Coder and the CPB-Certified Professional Biller from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Graduates of the Medical Billing and Coding program are prepared to immediately enter the workforce and begin work in hospitals, physicians’ offices, nursing care facilities, and in administrative and support services and professional, scientific, and technical services.
Medical Assisting:
To further provide opportunities for students wishing to enter the medical field, IntelliTec brought the popular Medical Assistant program to the Albuquerque campus beginning November 16th, 2020. IntelliTec’s Medical Assisting program is designed to help meet the need for clinical and administrative medical professionals in today’s healthcare world. Medical assistants are essential healthcare workers who have a direct influence on the quality and delivery of vital healthcare services. At IntelliTec, students learn to perform laboratory procedures, understand the anatomy and physiology of the human body, as well as how to assist physicians in medical office examinations. IntelliTec students also learn to perform administrative duties such as appointment scheduling, insurance, and medical practice management.
The Medical Assisting program at IntelliTec is designed to be achievable in as few as 12 months. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to sit for the AMT Registered Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist examinations for certification. Graduates of the Medical Assisting program are prepared to immediately enter the workforce and begin work in hospitals, physicians’ offices, medical clinics, nursing care facilities, and other healthcare settings.
Massage Therapy:
With the goal of enhancing offerings for students interested in all aspects of health and wellness, IntellITec brought the Massage Therapy program to the Albuquerque campus beginning January 11th, 2021. Massage therapists use therapeutic touch to provide relaxation, relieve pain and stress, and rehabilitate injuries. IntelliTec students learn massage therapy techniques designed to increase circulation, relieve tension, reduce stress, relieve anxiety, improve sleep, and promote relaxation throughout the entire body. At IntelliTec, students learn the skills to properly perform Swedish, Therapeutic, and Deep Tissue Massage Therapy, massage techniques for specific injuries, detailed client assessments, session documentation, and treatment planning.
IntelliTec’s Massage Therapy program is designed to be achievable in as few as 9 months. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to sit for professional certifications including the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEX), administered by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. IntelliTec graduates will also be prepared to sit for the Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork Exam administered by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB). While the COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges for in-person services like massage, training for a career in massage therapy remains a viable and promising option for the future for students who enjoy healing and helping others.
