IntelliTec College CST Students Compete in Raspberry Riot Robotics Challenge

At IntelliTec College, we are thrilled to give our students opportunities to practice the skills they are learning in their career training programs in a real-world setting. In February 2024, students in the Computer Systems Technician program were invited to participate in the Raspberry Riot Robotics Challenge, a fun and exciting event that allowed students to showcase their skills by competing to create robots using Raspberry Pi computers.

On February 29, 2024, the Raspberry Riot Robotics Challenge took place at two of IntelliTec’s four campus locations: Albuquerque, NM, and Colorado Springs, CO. Both of these IntelliTec campuses host the Computer Systems Technician program, a certificate program designed to get students started in the dynamic field of Information Technology in as little as 12 months.

The Raspberry Riot Robotics Challenge event was both entertaining and educational, offering insights into the capabilities of robotics and computer systems technology. The competition showcased the technical prowess and creativity of students as they designed, built, and programmed robots using the Linux Operating System. Participants navigated their robots through a challenging obstacle course, demonstrating their engineering and programming skills.

Community members were invited to attend and witness the excitement firsthand as students put their robots to the test. The competition was also streamed online through IntelliTec College’s YouTube channel.

Judging was carried out at each campus by highly regarded professionals who brought with them a wealth of experience and expertise, highlighting the unwavering support of the industry for nurturing and fostering these talents. The Albuquerque campus was honored to host a representative from the national Software Consulting firm, Respec, who not only served as a judge, but also co-sponsored the event, underscoring the industry’s support for the next generation of technologists. These judges’ participation signifies a commitment to empowering and guiding budding IT professionals as they embark on their journey towards innovation and excellence in the field.

The Raspberry Riot Robotics Challenge event exemplifies IntelliTec College’s commitment to providing hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for success in the rapidly evolving fields of technology. By fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork, the Raspberry Riot Robotics Challenge empowers students to unleash their potential and make meaningful contributions to the tech industry.
