Medical Billing and Coding specialists are essential healthcare workers who provide important administrative healthcare services. IntelliTec’s Medical Billing and Coding program teaches students the skills they need to begin entry-level positions in hospitals, physicians’ offices, nursing care facilities, and in administrative and support services and professional, scientific, and technical services. Students learn medical terminology, comprehensive medical coding and billing procedures, current medical billing software, how to prepare and file insurance claims, how to analyze benefits, how to use Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, and how to adhere to HIPAA laws. 

Here are the key details about IntelliTec’s new Healthcare Administration: Medical Billing and Coding AOS degree program:

  • Can be completed in as few as 18 months
  • Credit hours: 92.5
  • Available at the Pueblo and Grand Junction campuses
  • Includes 18 weeks of General Education courses, including Introduction to Business, Business Communications, and American Government. All General Education courses may be completed 100% online. 
  • Graduates receive a Healthcare Administration: Medical Billing and Coding Associate of Occupational Studies degree 
  • Graduates are prepared to sit for professional certifications, including:

Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA), National Healthcareer Association

– Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS), National Healthcareer Association

– Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS), National Healthcareer Association

– CPC-A Certified Professional Coder, American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)

– CPB-Certified Professional Biller, American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) 

IntelliTec’s second new Associate degree program is designed to train students for entry-level careers as Medical Assistants. Medical Assistants are also essential healthcare workers, and work directly with both doctors and patients to perform both clinical and administrative tasks. IntelliTec’s Medical Assistant program prepares students with the knowledge and skills they need for entry-level positions in hospitals, physicians’ offices, medical clinics, nursing care facilities, and other healthcare settings. Students learn anatomy and physiology of the human body, as well as how to perform medical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and preparing patients for medical procedures. IntelliTec students also learn to perform administrative duties such as appointment scheduling, insurance, and medical practice management.

  • Offered at the Albuquerque, Pueblo, and Grand Junction campuses
  • Includes 18 weeks of General Education courses, including Introduction to Business, Business Communications, and American Government. All General Education courses may be completed 100% online. 
  • Graduates receive a Healthcare Administration: Medical Assisting Associate of Occupational Studies degree 
  • Graduates are prepared to sit for professional certifications, including the AMT Registered Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist certifications
